'Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not.'
~ Thomas Jefferson
1. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.
2. A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
3. Colt: The original point and click interface.
4. Gun control is not about guns; it's about control.
5. If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?
6. If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.
7. Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.
8. If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.
9. Those who trade liberty for security have neither.
10. The United States Constitution (c) 1791. All Rights Reserved.
11. What part of 'shall not be infringed' do you not understand?
12. The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others.
13. 64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.
14. Guns only have two enemies; rust and politicians.
15. Know guns, know peace, know safety. No guns, no peace, no safety.
16. You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.
17. 911: Government sponsored Dial-a-Prayer.
18. Assault is a behavior, not a device.
19. Criminals love gun control; it makes their jobs safer.
20. If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson.
21. Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to control them.
22. You have only the rights you are willing to fight for.
23. Enforce the gun control laws we ALREADY have; don't make more.
24. When you remove the people's right to bear arms, you create slaves.
25. The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control.

Iran's Thought Process
Does anyone else think that Iran is out of their minds to send and armed security force into Iraq, a US theater of war, to take over an oil well. That is essentially trying to push us into an armed conflict so we can be the bad guys.
It seems to me that they are trying to make an openly public move in order to distract people from the bad press that they have been receiving lately in light of their nuclear projects. For lack of a better term, they have invaded and annexed this oil well in southern Iraq. Iran is still claiming that the takeover didn't happen. That would mean that the Iraqi government is asking invisible people to leave their country right now. Somebody has to be lying about what has happened and with Iran's current track record I would bet that they would be up to it.
The Iraqi government released a statement today that called for Iran "to resolve all border problems through diplomatic dialogue and avoid the use of military force in order to preserve our common security and bilateral relations between the two countries."
So the question could be shaping up to "What does the US do if Iraq and Iran go to war? Especially since Iraq can’t support itself as it is."

Obama and the Banks
So President Obama is meeting with 12 of the nation’s largest banks to try to encourage them to help with the economic reform. The 12 banks expected to have CEO's appear include American Express, Bank of America, Capital One, Citigroup, JPMorgan, Chase, Morgan Stanley, and Wells Fargo. He will urge the executives to slow compensations, and stop with all of the high interest rates and over draft fees.
The question is though; can he get the message to take effect?
The banks have paid back some of the bailout money, a total of $116 billion between them. Here in the south we call that a debt half paid. So while they are still trying to make money, their thoughts should be on how to help the American people that so willingly bailed them out. They borrowed all in all a little over $204 billion, I'm no banker, but the math just doesn't add up for me.
Meanwhile the banks have been making quiet a profit and having stocks skyrocket. This is thanks to the government’s willingness to give out zero interest rates and other government support. Among other things, banks have been getting rock bottom rates and risk-free treasury securities, while pocketing the difference the whole time.
So what is happening is the government is passing out money for banks to lend to small business and consumers nationwide. But somewhere in the middle, at the banks, that money is not filtering down to the people. You know the same people that paid all of the tax money that bailed the very same banks out.

The War in Afghanistan
Does anyone really think that we will begin getting out of Afghanistan in the year 2011? What I mean is, there may be a temporary pull out, but how long will it be before we have to redeploy the soldiers to reach the previous troop numbers.
Currently, I am on the fence with this issue. It has been 8 years and we still haven't found Bin Laden. I'm not saying that it is an easy job to do, but when a man is responsible for a huge anti terrorism campaign and 2 wars, we don't need to worry about other people’s feelings. Our allies should either go in to their own uncontrollable areas with military force and lay down the law, or our men should be allowed to cross the border and stop the flow of insurgent men and supplies into our war zone. Yes, I am talking about Pakistan, they claim to be one of our biggest allies yet we can't pursue the enemy across their border.
What has happened to the days of fighting a war to win it not to play politics in another country? I am not bashing the war, I support every man and woman there and I support the decision to go in. But what I don't support is sending our men and women in to fight and die and then 8 years later pulling out with the job half finished. The American people should buckle down and our government should handle the situation with all of our military might.
After this week, Karzai decides to go on television and explain that the Afghan people need more time and that the United States and our Allies should be patient. Personally I don't think that we should be patient with him. I think that we should remove him from office if even half of the allegations about voter fraud were correct. We are the ones that put him in charge of the government, and at its second major election as a democratic nation, there are wide spread issues with voter fraud, in his favor. Our putting him in office originally makes us look bad and we should show that we are in it to fix it and corrupt officials won’t be tolerated.
Anyway these are just my thoughts on some of the week’s news. Let me hear what you have to say. Any point of view is accepted.
